Ade Salami is a Principal at Park Street Public. Prior to joining the team at Park Street Public, Ade served as Senior Policy Aide for Council Member Phillipe Cunningham, who represents the 4th Ward on the Minneapolis City Council. Throughout her professional career, Ade’s success lies in her recognition that we share the same basic needs; to be seen, to be heard, and to feel assurance. Ade is steadfast in her pursuit of knowledge and information to ensure a racially equitable and just future that tomorrow’s youth deserve.
Ade’s commitment and unique approach to policy and social justice work started when she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre for Social Change from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In 2017, Ade’s passion for storytelling and social justice aligned with her interest in policy when she launched and co-led a team of 400 national volunteers for the Resistance Manual, an online resource designed to make policy areas that would likely impact vulnerable communities easy to understand. Her ability to unite people from all backgrounds through impactful storytelling and a deep understanding of the head, heart, and wallet theory further propelled Ade into policy work.
As a member of the Amherst Wilder Foundation’s 2019 Community Equity Policy Program cohort, she deepened her knowledge of the Minnesota State Legislature and built relationships with community members and policymakers. In her work for the Minneapolis City Council she was deeply immersed in the Upper Harbor Terminal development project and building strong multi-jurisdictional and community relationships to navigate the many nuanced layers of engagement surrounding the development.
Ade is a policy aficionado, a theatre artist, and a full spectrum Doula. When she is not moving policy, fostering relationships, or building capacity, Ade enjoys supporting birthing people in her passion work as a Doula, reading a good book, or roller skating, her newest hobby.
